You wake up every morning, grab a cup of\ncoffee, and prepare to start a new day. You chant in your mind, \u201cgirl, you\u2019ve\ngot this! You were made for this!\u201d But something still feels. . . off. You\nscroll through Instagram (or Pinterest…whatever\u2019s your flavor) for a little\ninspiration, and you see a bunch of posts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou are enough!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou\u2019re such a boss!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s your time!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And while you feel uplifted for just a moment,\nthere\u2019s still doubt in your mind. There\u2019s doubt that says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAm I where I\u2019m supposed to be in life?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAm I doing everything I have been called to\ndo?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAm I living to my fullest potential?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here\u2019s what I can tell you: the answer to\nthese questions is always yes\u2014as long as you\u2019re pushing forward to be better\nthan you were the day before. That\u2019s because owning a business is all about the\njourney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
See, if there were no journey, this whole\ncreative entrepreneurial thing would be a boring blur. If there were no\njourney, then you wouldn\u2019t be the inspiration needed for the next young woman\nstruggling to find her \u201cwhy\u201d. And if there were no journey, there would be no\nway you\u2019d appreciate all you\u2019ve achieved in this life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So when doubt comes, it simply means that it\u2019s\ntime to forget all the distractions that surround you and focus on your \u201cwhy\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why<\/em> do you do what you do? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n I mean, why do you wake up every morning, turn\non that laptop, and push to \u201cmake it\u201d? To succeed? To win? I mean, it can\u2019t be\njust \u201cto get the coin\u201d. Girl, you can do that anywhere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n When you sit down to plan out your content\ncalendar, why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n When you craft all your business\u2019s workflows\nand templated emails, why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n When you sit and curate your Instagram until\nit looks so perfect and pretty, why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why. . . why. . . why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Listen, I am not asking for some deep-rooted\nheartfelt answer here. But I assume you wake up every morning to grind on that\nbrand of yours because there is some sort of tugging on your heart that calls\nyou to your work, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n I want you to know that most people don\u2019t hire\nyou (or engage with your brand) because of what\n<\/em>you do, but mainly because of why<\/em>\nyou do it and how you tell your story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n So, really\nunderstanding your why <\/em>is crucial to\nyour business. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Here\u2019s what that meant for me personally:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Growing up, I was told to major in something \u201csmart\u201d,\nget a great-paying job, and maintain tenure at a company so I could advance in\nthe ranks and have social security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I was never taught to be a business owner, to\nexplore my creative, or to monetize my passion. So I did what I knew\u2014I got my master\u2019s,\ngot a good-paying job and got real comfortable. But something was always\nmissing, and I couldn\u2019t explain it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Then, while studying abroad in Valencia, Spain,\nI took a photography course! And I remember how it was such a funny thing to my\nfamily. See, to them (and maybe me, too), photography wasn\u2019t a \u201creal\u201d class.\nBut for me, it was the first time ever that I tapped into my creative side (and\nI was darn good at it, if I might add).<\/p>\n\n\n\n It was during this time when I started to\nthink, \u201cwhat if I could do something fulfilling like this, and actually make a\nliving?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n So, I started to think about the creative\nthings I was already doing in my life and ways to possibly translate them into\ncareers. I didn\u2019t realize it at the time, but this was the start to my creative\nentrepreneurial journey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n When I was planning my wedding I said to\nmyself, \u201cyou should be a wedding planner\u201d. And I was. When I was shooting pictures for\nfriends just for fun, I said, \u201cyou should be a photographer\u201d. And I was. When I\nwas building a website for an upcoming event I was hosting, I said to myself,\n\u201cyou should be a web & graphic designer\u201d. And I was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But you know what? At the time, I never\nstopped to realize that it wasn\u2019t the job or career I loved. It was the concept\nof transforming visions into real, tangible outcomes\u2014outcomes that in the end\nproduced really happy people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Happy couples. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Happy friends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Happy business owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I was addicted to showing people, \u201clook, you\ncan make anything you envision come to life\u2014and be happy!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Looking back now, my \u201cwhy\u201d was sprinkled\nthroughout my journey this entire time. I now realize that my why is to help\npeople transform ideas into real tangible outcomes that allow them to live\nhappy and fulfilling lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You see how it took the journey? <\/p>\n\n\n\n You see how it really doesn\u2019t happen\novernight? <\/p>\n\n\n\n You see why every twist and turn plays a part?<\/p>\n\n\n\n To leave you with an encouraging word, remember\nthat the journey to your \u201cwhy\u201d will always be evolving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So evolve, my friend.
