Keep reading!<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed\">\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/tv\/B4A1QvjFClb\/<\/div>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>The Facebook Ad Fight Club<\/b><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last month<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.dev.reliablepenguin.com\/blog\/what-nobody-tells-you-about-launching-a-digital-product\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I<\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.dev.reliablepenguin.com\/blog\/what-nobody-tells-you-about-launching-a-digital-product\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> shared about the fact that nobody <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">really<\/span><\/i><i><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> talks about launching. To be honest, Facebook ads feel a little bit like another unknown underbelly of the online business world.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sure, people will talk about their \u201csuper low cost per click\u201d or their \u201cconversion rate,\u201d but there are a lot of questions left unanswered in the conversation as a whole.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why run Facebook ads?<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What type of product or service works best with ads?<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is the best thing to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">send<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> people to from an ad? A sales page? A landing page for a lead magnet that feeds into an email sequence? My services page? A blog post?<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can I even use ads if I\u2019m a service-based business?<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do \u201caudiences\u201d work?<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plus, the idea of learning how to run Facebook ads &#8211; the system of something so nuanced that I would be feeding cold-hard-cash into &#8211; seemed ridiculously overwhelming.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, as usual, I want to show you that underbelly (ew?), and talk you through my decision to run Facebook ads, how I chose to do it, and how the whole process has felt as a business owner.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>But, FIRST: Some terminology you need to know<\/b><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><b>Cost Per Click:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This is the phrase used to note how much each click is costing you, on average. For example, if you spend $50, and you get 30 clicks, your Cost Per Click is about $1.67. You want to see this number go as low as possible.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><b>Conversions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> For the sake of Facebook ads, a conversion can be any desired action your ad viewers are taking. Inside of Facebook ads manager, you can dictate the type of conversion it calculates. A \u201cconversion\u201d could even be getting your ad viewers to view a page on your website. Or, for example, if you\u2019re running a campaign to build your email list, your \u201cconversion\u201d would be when someone <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">enters their email address<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Your conversion rate would be the number of conversions divided by the number of people who landed on the page.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that you know your way around, let\u2019s talk about why I decided to run ads for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jessicajordana.com\/the-promptlate-shop\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Promptlate Shop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Why Run Facebook Ads: How I Made the Decision to Try Them<\/b><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When I launched <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jessicajordana.com\/the-promptlate-shop\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Promptlate Shop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> last month, I was <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">super happy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the sales and interest from a completely organic launch.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In case you\u2019re not sure what an \u201corganic launch\u201d is, it doesn\u2019t mean I sprinkled sprouted oats all over my business or anything. <\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOrganic\u201d simply means that I launched to my immediate audience, and asked my immediate audience to share. The reach of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jessicajordana.com\/the-promptlate-shop\">The Promptlate Shop<\/a> was to my circle and my friends\u2019 circles &#8211; I didn\u2019t have any cold audience reach for this launch.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, with that in mind, all went super well, but there was a natural die-down of sales when my friends stopped talking about the Promptlates. And, I really stopped talking about it, too! Mostly because I was buried, bushy-eyebrow-deep, in client work, but also because I just needed <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a break<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from living and breathing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jessicajordana.com\/the-promptlate-shop\">The Promptlate Shop<\/a> for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">months<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>As I thought about sales strategy for the shop, two things became really clear:<\/b><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>My product (a killer D.I.Y. website copy solution) is all about timing.<\/strong> Copywriting help is something you have <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">no idea exists<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> until you <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">need help, NOW.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> That \u201cneed help now\u201d feeling was what I was hoping to tap into so that I could provide a solution to the frantic inquiries I get on the weekly for copywriting services to start YESTERDAY. In order to reach more people at the exact right time, I knew I could expand my reach to a colder audience.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>I want this shop to run on auto (mostly).<\/strong> I want it to give me <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> freedom, not less. In order to sell <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">consistently,\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by organic reach alone, that takes a lot of content power. I want it to be a solution for as many people as possible who are literally sitting on a pretty website because they\u2019re stuck on copy. I\u2019d rather create something that runs in the background and I don\u2019t have to worry about than add a million things to my own to-do list on a weekly basis.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which brings me to&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Why I Chose to Hire it Out<\/b><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m primarily a service-based business owner, and you know what that means:<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>My time <i>is money<\/i>.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I honestly don\u2019t think I would have considered running Facebook ads so quickly if I didn\u2019t <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">really know<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">totally trust<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Facebook ads agency I wanted to hire &#8211; <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/till.agency\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Till Agency<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Till is a comprehensive Facebook ads agency. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/daveyandkrista.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Davey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/idealustlife.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jesse<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and Ryan are a powerhouse team with a lot of creative industry experience and crazy strategy skills, so I knew they would take care of my ads with a holistic view of my business in mind.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><b>Here\u2019s the thing:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> I really have no desire to learn the ins and outs of Facebook ads.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><b>But, here\u2019s the other thing: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve taken the time to \u201cknow enough to be dangerous,\u201d as they say.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019ve run my own lead-generating ad campaigns, so I understand how it works &#8211; which I definitely recommend everyone should do.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, I don\u2019t know enough to be able to strategically evaluate which pieces of the puzzle are falling flat, what to tweak, and how to troubleshoot. Ad campaigns in general are like a giant testing facility, so I wanted someone to handle all of that for me. It allows me to nurture and get to know my audience, and really prime them for the offer I\u2019ll be pitching.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, with all of those potential landing places in mind, here\u2019s what I recommend you get in order before you send a surge of traffic to your site.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>On-Page Website Copy\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The words on your website should both attract the right people and repel the wrong people.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s easy to think, \u201cWell, Jess, with more traffic, shouldn\u2019t I make things more general so more people will buy?\u201d NEVERRRRR. Remember: If you\u2019re not repelling, you\u2019re not <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">really<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> attracting, either. And, the cool thing is, I can craft one core email that acts as a template for my nurture sequences, and then I can just duplicate that template inside of my new workflow for each lead magnet and tweak accordingly.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bottom line, if you\u2019re leaving your new audience acquisition high and dry after they get to you, there\u2019s not much of a point wasting your time acquiring a new audience, now is there? (Tough love, I know.)<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Lead Capturing<\/b><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chances are, even if you\u2019re sending your influx of traffic to something free, you\u2019re going to get more inquiries, too.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, based on where your people are landing, do you make it easy and clear cut for them to inquire with you on your website?<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">not<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recommending that you put these things directly on a landing page. Landing pages and sales pages should be free of distraction, and solely focused on the action you want your visitors to take.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BUT, if someone takes the time to venture over to your website, is it easy for them to get there from the home page? Is your contact form easy to fill out? Were you recently on a CRAZY cool podcast, and now you have all kinds of new visitors and followers?<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Audience Acquisition Rule #1: Know where they\u2019re coming from.<\/b><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Audience Acquisition Rule #2: Know where they\u2019re landing.<\/b><\/h4>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have a poppin\u2019 podcast feature or a BOMB blog post that sends you daily traffic, make sure you have a lead magnet upgrade on that sucker! If you\u2019re sending podcast or online summit listeners to a resource, make sure you have a specific page that\u2019s easy for them to navigate to, or a page with a URL solely devoted to that audience.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, when I was featured on the Brands that Book Podcast, I created a page that was mywebsite.com\/brands-that-book, for easy navigation (and so I could remember it on the podcast interview).<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-image size-medium wp-image-21529\">\r\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-21529\" src=\"https:\/\/hbbadmin.dev.reliablepenguin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Screenshot-2019-10-21-13.02.07-303x434.png\" alt=\"\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>example from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jessicajordana.com\">Jessica Jordana<\/a><\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t throw a party, leave the door open, and then leave your guests without food, or booze, or the heater on when it\u2019s 12 degrees outside.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>The Mindset Struggle<\/b><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most difficult thing of this whole decision-making process was cultivating a growth mindset instead of perpetuating a scarcity mindset.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Guys, it\u2019s SCARY to dive into something that requires you to invest or commit <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">before<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> you see results.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, when you really think about it, isn\u2019t that the nature of almost anything good in life?<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You&#8217;ve gotta be vulnerable and invest in community before you get to experience the true benefits.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have to invest in giving value before your audience learns to trust you.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You need to spend $5 on pumpkin cream cold brew before you know if it\u2019s LITERALLY going to conjure feelings of fall for your entire day.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>It\u2019s how life goes: First sow, then reap.\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>So, the one question I would have you ask yourself is this&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Am I choosing to play big, or am I doing too much all at once just to keep up with what I think everyone else is doing? <\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Am I taking <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">my next step<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or am I trying to compete with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">her last step<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>And some questions to help you answer that one:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is this idea or offer validated, or do I think going big is the only way I can keep up?\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Note: If \u201ckeeping up\u201d pops into your mental vocabulary, that\u2019s almost always a red flag.)<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can I take myself on as a client right now, and make sure my infrastructure is ready for an influx of traffic?<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do I have the capacity to learn a new platform, or do I want to hire someone to help\/take over?<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Every time I\u2019ve taken a leap in business, it\u2019s paid off.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Every time I\u2019ve made a decision from scarcity (like booking a client because there will be no more clients, ever), it always turns out <i>real<\/i> bad.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After I did some work to change my mindset, I jumped in with CONFIDENCE, and my ads for The Promptlate Shop launched last week! <\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Stay tuned for a progress update next month!)<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>What\u2019s Next for the Real Life Diaries of this Entrepreneur?<\/b><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Next month, I\u2019ll be reporting on <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the results<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that come from my Facebook ads campaign.
